📏 Text Wrap
Wrap text at a specified width. Break long lines into multiple lines at word boundaries.
About the Text Wrap Tool
This text wrap tool runs entirely in your browser. Paste any text, choose a wrap width in characters, and click Wrap. Lines longer than the width are broken at word boundaries so words stay intact. Nothing is uploaded — wrapping happens locally with JavaScript.
Options
- Wrap width — The maximum number of characters per line. Accepts 1 to 200.
- Break long words — When checked, a single word longer than the wrap width is split across multiple lines. When unchecked, long words stay on their own line and may exceed the width.
Common use cases
- Format text for fixed-width displays, terminals, or print columns.
- Prepare email content with a consistent line length.
- Tidy up pasted paragraphs that arrived as one long line.
- Wrap commit messages or code comments to a project's style guide.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool upload my text? No. All wrapping happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
What counts as a word boundary? Spaces are used as word boundaries. Each line is built by adding whole words separated by single spaces until the next word would exceed the width.
Are existing line breaks preserved? Yes. The tool processes each existing line independently, so your paragraph structure is maintained.
What's the maximum width? 200 characters. For most uses, 72-100 characters is a comfortable reading width.
